Physical Education
Physical education offers a unique learning opportunity and provides an impact on health and emotional wellbeing as well as significantly impacting whole school improvement. Physical education can contribute to the Physical development, Cognitive development and improved Social, Emotional & Mental Health wellbeing. Physical education provides the skills for pupils to use their bodies efficiently and effectively and promoting the importance of active, fit and healthy lifestyles.
At Bourne Alliance we aim to promote Physical Education, Physical activity and school sport through our curriculum. Pupils are educated to lead healthy, active lives and remain active for sustained periods of time. Pupils learn to develop physical competence and social skills through physical activity. Pupils are taught how to engage in competitive sports and activities.
Further, Physical Education and Physical Activity is also covered within our school's Forest School. Children enjoy creating their own games and coming up with their own ideas to improve their Physical Development Skills. This may consist of creating their own 'Hop Scotch', making their own dum-bell weights, tyre rolling, stick relays, javelin with sticks through hanging targets, digging, tree climbing and log shot put. These are just a few examples of what the children choose to do. Their lists and ideas are endless...
It is truly amazing to see children choosing to link skills they have learnt during their PE Lessons to their time spent up on the Forest School Site.
Outside of the curriculum pupils are provided with opportunities to maintain physical activity through;
- Run a mile
- After school clubs
- Inter community competitions
- Individual virtual competitions
- Categorised competitions provided through School games and Sittingbourne and Sheppey School Sports Partnership (SSSSP)
Our intent is to provide pupils with opportunities to explore School Sport and Physical Activity in a variety of settings whilst educating pupils on the skills and benefits of Sport and Physical Activity.
